Okuma America has recently launched the HJ-400 horizontal CNC lathe, and new addition to its HJ series.
An economical entry-level machine tool which has lots of the advantages the company’s GENOS lathe series offers, the HJ-400 is available in two bed lengths. It can be fitted with an extended bed, giving it exceptional throughput and flexibility in machining parts for several industries and applications.
The GENOS L-Series machines themselves are also entry-level, multi-function lathes that are also built for versatility and value but could not be considered basic, thanks to abundant spec variations for high productivity, and a user-friendly design.
The HJ-400 is built on a single-piece cast-iron base with a horizontal way system, and hand-scraped headstock and tailstock mounting surfaces with two-point bearing support for additional stability, rigidity and accuracy. A gearless spindle reduces vibration and heat to minimise heat deformation for maximum productivity.
Built for user-friendly and easy operation, the HJ-400 allows effortless workpiece loading and unloading, and easy access to tooling. Among other key features, the HJ-400 has a maximum turning diameter of 330mm and an A2-8 spindle nose type.
Okuma America is the US-based affiliate of Japanese manufacturer Okuma Corporation. Now a world leader in CNC machine tools, the company is the industry’s only single-source provider – manufacturing machines, controls and all the components.
