GibbsCAM software for programming new and used machine tools has been certified for Autodesk Inventor 2013 3D mechanical design software.
Approved under the Autodesk Inventor Certified Applications Program, this marks the 12th consecutive year that GibbsCAM, part of the Cimatron company, has been certified.
Autodesk Inventor software allows manufacturers using CNC machines to digitally design, visualise and simulate how a finished piece will work under real world conditions. This means costs can be reduced and efficiency increased.
The GibbsCAM CNC software opens Autodesk Inventor part models, so operators can program their machine tools directly from the models, further reducing costs and boosting efficiency.
Official certification demonstrates that the Gibbs software is high quality, up-to-date and provides the highest level of interoperability with Autodesk Inventor.
“We are pleased with Autodesk’s recognition of our continued interoperability with Autodesk Inventor, which allows our joint customers to directly read models and assemblies into GibbsCAM,” said Robb Weinstein, senior vice president of sales and strategic planning of Gibbs and Associates.
“Repeating our certification, year after year, provides assurance to these customers that they can continue to take advantage of the productivity they’ve gained from the combined products.”
GibbsCAM ensures seamless integration and continuity with Autodesk Inventor as it directly reads the IPT files and preserves all colour information. When the operator defines the CNC machining processes in GibbsCAM they are automatically updated when the Inventor model us revised. GibbsCAM can also directly read AutoCAD DXF and DWG so even part geometry can be used in machining processes.
The GibbsCAM software line can be utilised on a wide range of new and used CNC machine tools, including 5-axis milling, turning, multi-task and wire-EDM machines. Fully integrated modelling capabilities include 2D, 2.5D, 3D, wireframe, surface and solid modelling and the software is compatible with Windows 7 and Vista.
